Victorian Two Tone Gold Floral Bird Drop Earrings

This stunning pair of Victorian bird and floral drop earrings is a personal collection release--they are incredibly beautiful but I simply don't wear larger earrings like this enough! They feature beautiful birds and floral design rendered in duo rose and yellow toned gold made c.1880. The gold tests as 14k, but has the buttery glow of higher carat. These earrings are likely given to commemorate a wedding, as it each features two birds hovering over a shared gold nest with two pearl eggs -- as the blessed start of a family. The Victorians loved using motifs of flowers and birds for their symbolic and secretive communication in worn jewelry. This pair of dangle earrings embodies all that during the high Victorian era. They exhibit delicate craftsmanship of the time period and beautiful movement when worn, especially with the tassels.

Unmarked but acid tests to be 14k gold. Duo-toned yellow and rose gold featuring garnet eyes, turquoise body cabochons, and small pearl eggs.

Condition

In good antique condition commensurate with age. Please Note: at the locations of the connection of the front floral pieces to the backing structure, there is very very small amount of lead solder repair that was added historically to reinforce the connection. It is difficult to see but it is present. This practice was common before the 1970s. Due to the age and delicacy of the piece, the removal process may be difficult and is best to wear as-is. The area is very small and is not easily accessible and not likely to touch your skin at all. Price is adjusted to reflect this condition. Other than this condition, the earrings are in very good condition overall. Components of the earrings do swivel but remains secure. Please note that this is a pre-owned antique piece and is therefore not in mint condition. Sold as-is.
