About

The Artist

Yolanda Jin is the wax carver, goldsmith and artist behind the studio. She was trained in structural engineering and architecture and worked as an engineer for several years in NYC before taking the leap into the jewelry world. Studio Yolanda Jin was borne out of a deep passion for antique jewelry and the art of creating miniature wearable pieces in fine material.

This artistic endeavour is dedicated to Yolanda's grandmother: a formidable artist who came before and the person who taught Yolanda the love of beauty and creating from an early age.

Fun fact — Jin means "gold", which seems apropos for a jeweler.

The Muses

The studio creations are rooted in the history of art and antique jewelry, particularly Victorian and turn-of-the-20th-century art movements combined with the influence of Chinese designs that Yolanda grew up seeing. The sentimentality and symbolism imbued in these art forms are the undercurrent that guides the storytelling of the Studio Collection pieces. Each piece is carefully carved by hand using a file and a dental tool (the old school way!) and casted by a local casting house using 100% recycled metals.
