"Hope" is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all
– Emily Dickinson
Hope is our shared human desire that fuels us to persist and press forward: to seek the sunlight when dark clouds gather, to weather the rockiest of storms. In Victorian floriography, the hawthorn is an emblem of hope. The blossoms typically flower from May into June and are associated with springtime coming into full bloom.
I hand carved the pendant out of wax and the piece is one-of-a-kind. The pendant is casted through the lost-wax method in 100% recycled gold. I designed each pendant as a panel with concave beveled corners and relief design– an homage to the decorative panels in antique Chinese furniture and Renaissance basso-relievo sculptures.
Specifications

Paired with an antique 9k foxtail chain that beautifully pairs with the pendant and is silky smooth to wear: 16" in length.

A Gift of Harvest
A Gift of Harvest
This debut collection is inspired by the gift of harvest – both flowers and fruits – and the depth of meaning they hold in Victorian floriography and traditional Chinese furniture and painting designs. Elements of nature have nourished us, inspired us, brought us delight and captured our imagination. So much so that we have instilled enduring meaning into them that reflect and communicate our human hopes, desires, and sentimentality. Growing up I have always loved the traditional Chinese watercolors that so effortlessly and exquisitely capture the life of flora and fauna. Not only is there beauty, but deeply personal meaning and cultural symbolism. On the other side of the world, the Victorian flower language came into full bloom in the mid-19th century and soon they were ubiquitous in jewelry and letters, furtively speaking quiet messages of love, joy, despair and heartbreak the reserved Victorians wouldn’t utter themselves. This collection is a conversation between these two traditions and the manifold stories they tell through the beauty that nature displays. Let me show you their meaning and I cannot wait to see how they take on new life through your story.
