A gorgeous and classic three-stone flush-set coral ring from England 1880s. This kind of ring is hands-down my favourite type of antique ring: cabochon stones, clean flush-set setting with beautiful craftsmanship, buttery 18k yellow gold. Not to mention that the tapered form of this ring sits so comfortably on the finger while feeling like a substantial cigar band. I love the slight gradient of salmon pink to lighter pink in the three stones that really exhibits the natural material so well. A beautiful classic of late Victorian English jewelry that has survived beautifully the last 150 years.

Care

Please note that coral, being an organic material, is sensitive to moisture and chemicals. Please avoid wearing in water. The stones are secured with some kind of glue (this was present historically) to reinforce the setting, which will also weaken in water.

Condition

In very good condition commensurate with age. The three stones are all slightly different from one another: slightly different pink hue, the central stone is oval while the other two are circular, and one side coral has a much lower dome than the other cabochons. Please see images for these conditions. From the setting condition it appears all three stones are original to the ring, so it appears these differences in the stones were designed deliberately. Please note that these differences are not stark when viewing from the top and the stones look very cohesive together. There are a few spots of natural imperfections in the coral although not noticeably so, and the stones exhibit very little wear. These stones are open back so the original glue can be seen on the inside. Gold setting is in excellent condition, with a light patina. Please note that this is a pre-owned antique piece and is therefore not in mint condition. Sold as-is.
